Description

The Rascino-E is an outdoor wall light with a gently curved black front and three white diffuser panels, set one above the other towards one side. The body is zinc-plated steel in black and the panels are white plastic, so the bulb behind them gives a soft, diffused glow rather than a bare point of light. It measures 26cm high and 23.5cm long, and stands 9cm out from the wall. It takes an E27 screw bulb up to 40W, which is not included. The IP44 rating settles where it can go: it is protected from splashing water, so it lives outdoors on a house wall.

We would put it beside a front door, at a back door, along a side return or on a garden wall, anywhere you want a softly lit welcome after dark. At 9cm deep it keeps close to the wall, which suits narrow paths and porches where a bulkier lantern would catch shoulders. Black with white panels sits comfortably against brick, render or timber cladding, and works with modern houses as well as plainer traditional ones. Because the light comes through three panels rather than open glass, it reads as neat bands of light at night and a tidy graphic shape by day.
