QULES AC O-C/M Round Recessed GU10 Downlight IP44 - Matt Chrome

The QULES AC O-C/M is a round recessed downlight that drops into the ceiling and takes a single GU10 lamp up to 10W, running directly from a 220-240V AC mains supply. The fitting itself holds no integrated LED, so the GU10 lamp you choose sets the brightness, beam and colour temperature. In the United States this style of recessed fitting is commonly known as a can light, and the QULES gives the same flush, built-in look in a compact 83mm round body that sits neatly into a standard ceiling cut-out.

Rated IP44, the QULES is splash-resistant and suited to bathroom zones away from direct spray, as well as covered outdoor spots such as a porch, carport or sheltered entrance. It is not intended for fully exposed positions, direct water jets or anywhere it could be submerged. Indoors it works well across kitchens, hallways and living spaces, and because each fitting carries one lamp, the spacing and number you install will set the overall light level rather than any single unit. As a guide, plan a regular grid across the ceiling for even coverage and add more heads over worktops or basins where you want stronger task light.

The body is aluminium alloy in a matt chrome finish, measuring Ø83 x 44mm and weighing 178g, so it fits shallow ceiling voids without a deep recess. The lamp seats into the GU10 holder and the fitting recesses fully into the ceiling for a clean trim. Whether the downlight dims depends entirely on the GU10 lamp fitted, as the QULES has no driver of its own to limit this. Can it be used in a bathroom or outside?

Yes, within limits. The IP44 rating makes it splash-resistant, so it is suitable for bathroom zones away from direct water and for covered outdoor areas like a porch or carport. Keep it clear of direct water jets and fully exposed positions, as it is not rated for those.

Is it dimmable?

The fitting takes a separate GU10 lamp, so dimmability is set by the lamp you choose rather than the downlight. Fit a dimmable GU10 with a compatible dimmer switch if you want adjustable brightness. The downlight itself has no driver that would restrict this.

How do I clean and maintain it?

Wipe the matt chrome trim with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth, avoiding abrasive cleaners that could mark the finish. Switch off and let the lamp cool before handling. Replacing the GU10 lamp is straightforward, as it twists into the holder without needing to remove the whole fitting.
