Description

Quadro is a square panel 105cm each way made of two overlapping squares of glass, a larger one and a smaller one crossing it. Where they overlap the glass stays see through, so the wall behind reads through both layers at that point, and the outlines are printed onto the surface in black. There is no frame.

It is a piece that changes with what is behind it. On a pale wall the transparent overlap almost disappears and the black outlines carry the shape; on a dark or coloured wall the overlap becomes the darkest part of the panel and the geometry reverses. That makes it worth thinking about where it goes rather than treating it as a mirror to be hung anywhere. It is rated bathroom proof and hangs either way up, so the smaller square can sit low left or high right. At 16kg and 2cm deep it is a one person lift with the two screws, washers and plugs supplied.

The glass is partially transparent mirrored and printed glass with the black applied as a printed line, not a frame or an inlay, so there is no edge to catch dust and nothing to work loose. Clean it with cleaner sprayed onto a cloth. Because part of the panel is deliberately not mirrored, it reflects less overall than a plain mirror the same size, which is the trade for the effect. It is made in Europe and carries our seven year mirror warranty. The two squares are cut from a single sheet rather than laid one over the other, so there is no join to see where they cross.
