Description

The QTX MDU-40 is a mini desktop USB microphone built for clear voice input to a computer. It uses a back electret condenser capsule with a cardioid polar pattern, so it picks up your voice from the front while rejecting sound from the sides and rear. That makes it a sensible choice for web conferencing, voice recording and video calls where you want your words heard without too much room noise creeping in.

Setup is straightforward. The microphone connects to your computer through a USB type-C socket on the rear, and the supplied 1.5m USB lead handles both power and the digital audio signal. There is no separate power supply or audio interface to worry about, since the USB connection does everything over a single cable. The stand is detachable, so you can position the mic where it suits your desk or remove it if you need a lower profile.

An illuminated live/mute button sits on top, giving you a clear visual cue for when you are on air and when you are muted. The capsule is a 9.7mm back electret condenser with a frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz and a sensitivity of -52dB. It measures 140 x 94 x 58mm and weighs 197g, so it stays put on the desk without taking up much space. The USB lead is a type C to A (USB2.0) cable at 1.5m, ready to plug into most computers.

Can I remove the stand?

Yes. The stand is detachable, so you can set the mic up on your desk or take the stand off if you need a lower profile.

What is it designed for?
