Prism Outdoor Wall Light - White

The Prism is a 165mm white outdoor wall light with a rectangular die-cast aluminium body and dual transparent Pyrex glass diffusers that cast light both upwards and downwards. The light takes a single G9 bulb (sold separately) and carries an IP44 rating for protection against splashing water, making it suitable for covered porches, patios under eaves, and garden walls with some overhead shelter.

Designed for residential front doors, garage entries, rear patios and commercial building entrances, the Prism mounts directly to an external wall via a rear fixing plate. The dual-direction light distribution provides both functional illumination at ground level and decorative wash light on the wall surface above, helping to define architectural features and doorways after dark. The 65mm projection from the wall keeps the fitting compact enough for narrow passages and doorways.

The die-cast aluminium body is finished in a powder-coated matte white that resists UV degradation and weathering better than painted mild steel. The Pyrex glass diffusers are satin-finished to soften the point-source glare of the G9 bulb while maintaining useful light output in both directions. The fitting is dimmable when paired with a compatible G9 LED bulb and a trailing-edge or universal dimmer — dimmer compatibility depends on the specific bulb chosen.

Can this be used in fully exposed outdoor positions?

The IP44 rating protects against splashing water from any direction, which suits covered porches, patios under eaves and recessed doorways. It is not rated for fully exposed positions subject to driving rain or direct hose-down. For fully exposed walls, an IP65 or IP66 fitting would be more appropriate.

What bulb does it take?

The Prism takes a single G9 capsule bulb, sold separately. Most users pair this with a G9 LED bulb between 2.5W and 5W in 2700K or 3000K warm white. G9 halogen bulbs are also compatible but draw higher wattage and generate more heat.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, when fitted with a dimmable G9 LED bulb and paired with a compatible trailing-edge or universal dimmer. Not all G9 LED bulbs dim smoothly — check the bulb specification before pairing with a dimmer.

How is it wired?

The fitting wires directly to mains 230V via a rear terminal block accessible once the body is removed from the wall plate. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671 wiring regulations.
