Description

The Prilmarne is a three light ceiling light built from three black fabric drum shades that overlap in a loose cluster, each finished underneath with a white diffuser. The drums are not all the same size: one is smaller than the other two, and they sit at staggered depths for a soft, layered shape. A white steel body holds them together at the centre. The whole light is 61cm long, 49.5cm wide and 25.5cm high, so it covers a generous patch of ceiling while staying close to it. It takes three E27 bulbs of up to 60W each, and the bulbs are not included. It is rated IP20, which settles where it goes: indoors, in a dry room.

Because it sits close to the ceiling rather than hanging on a long flex, it suits bedrooms, living rooms and other dry rooms where a pendant would feel in the way. In a bedroom the black shades give a calm, grown-up look, while the white undersides keep the view from the pillow tidy. It works as well in a dining room or a snug, anywhere you want three points of light from one ceiling position instead of a single bulb. The mix of black and white pairs easily with oak, walnut, grey textiles or crisp white bedding, so it settles into most schemes without fuss.

The body is made of steel, a strong metal that keeps its shape, and the shades are fabric in black with white diffusers. There is no switch on the light itself, as it is switched at the wall, and as a mains light wired into your ceiling it is installed by a qualified electrician. It runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz, and it weighs 2.658KG packed. The installation instructions come as a download. Before fitting day, choose three E27 bulbs of 60W or less so the light is ready the moment it is installed.
