Description

Precious Gold is a wall mirror with an irregular faceted surround, 152cm high by 93cm wide. The frame is a synthetic body finished in hand applied gold metal leaf, cut into angular facets that catch light from different directions as you move past it. It is 9cm deep, so it stands well off the wall and reads as an object in the room rather than a panel on it. The outline is irregular, following the facets rather than resolving into a clean oval or rectangle.

It is a room-defining piece and works best where it has a wall to itself, in a hallway, a dining room, or a bedroom. It weighs 16KG and hangs on two screws with washers and wall plugs, all supplied, with nothing to assemble. It hangs in two orientations if you want it on its side rather than upright. The 9cm depth means it needs clearance in front of it, so it is not the mirror for a tight corridor where people pass close to the wall.

The materials are mirrored glass, a synthetic frame and hand applied gold metal leaf, made in Belgium to a design by Annemie Vanzieleghem, and we cover it for seven years. Because the leaf is applied by hand the facets vary slightly from piece to piece, so no two are quite identical. It is not rated for bathroom use. Made to order runs start at 100 pieces for this design, which is higher than the rest of the range. At 16KG it is lighter than its 152cm height suggests, because the faceted surround is a synthetic body rather than solid metal.
