Description
The PowerMaster 17.5W LED emergency bulkhead gear tray is a 243mm diameter circular LED module rated at 1,725 lumens, designed to retrofit into existing bulkhead housings or be mounted directly to ceiling or wall surfaces. It combines CCT-adjustable LED technology with an integrated microwave motion sensor and emergency backup function, delivering three colour temperature settings (3000K warm white, 4000K cool white, 6500K daylight) selectable via a switch on the tray itself.
Designed for commercial corridors, stairwells, communal areas and workplace environments where both presence detection and emergency lighting are required, the tray installs via a 3-way or 4-way push terminal block and operates on 220-240V AC. The microwave sensor detects movement through non-metallic materials including plasterboard and thin timber, allowing the tray to be mounted behind diffuser panels or inside bulkhead housings without compromising sensor range. In emergency mode the tray maintains illumination during mains power failure, meeting safety requirements for escape routes and common areas.
The aluminium PCB board dissipates heat across the 243mm diameter surface, keeping LED junction temperatures stable and extending operational life. The flicker-free isolated driver provides stable output across the dimming range when paired with compatible TRIAC or 0-10V dimmer modules. The 120° beam angle gives wide coverage from a single ceiling point, while the CRI >80 rating maintains colour accuracy under task lighting conditions. The gear tray operates between -10°C and +40°C ambient temperatures and carries an IP20 rating for indoor dry locations only.

Frequently Asked
What does CCT adjustable mean and how is it changed?
CCT adjustable means the colour temperature can be set to 3000K (warm white), 4000K (cool white) or 6500K (daylight) using a switch on the gear tray itself. This must be set during installation before the tray is enclosed in a housing. Once set, the colour temperature remains fixed until the switch is changed.
Does this work with existing bulkhead fittings?
Yes. The 243mm diameter tray is designed to retrofit into compatible emergency bulkhead housings or can be surface-mounted directly to ceilings or walls. Check that your existing housing accepts a 243mm diameter gear tray before ordering.
How does the microwave sensor work?
The microwave sensor detects movement by emitting low-power radio waves and measuring reflections. Unlike PIR sensors, microwave sensors can detect through thin non-metallic barriers such as plasterboard, diffuser panels and bulkhead housings. Sensitivity and duration settings may be adjustable depending on the sensor model fitted.
What happens during a power cut?
The emergency function maintains illumination when mains power fails. Emergency duration and battery capacity depend on the specific emergency module fitted to the tray. Consult the technical datasheet or contact us for emergency runtime specifications.
