Polverara Amber Glass Linear Pendant Light - Black

The Polverara is a linear pendant light that hangs three cylindrical amber glass shades from a single black ceiling bar, so one fitting lights the full length of a table. The body is steel in a black finish, and each shade is vaporised glass in a warm amber tone that still lets you see the bulb clearly. Overall it is 115cm long, 18cm wide and 150cm high. Each shade takes an E27 bulb of up to 40W, and the bulbs are not included. It is rated IP20, which means it belongs indoors in a dry room.

A row of three pendants is the classic answer for a dining table or a kitchen island, where a single central light leaves the ends of the surface in shadow. Spaced along the bar, the shades put light where plates, chopping boards and homework sit. The amber glass tints the light towards a warm, honeyed glow, so it suits a relaxed evening meal as well as a busy kitchen, and the black steel sits comfortably with dark woods, brass, concrete or painted walls in deep colours. It works just as well along a breakfast bar or above a long sideboard in an open plan living space.

The canopy is a long, slim black bar, and each shade is held by fine arms fixed with small black screws, with the open base letting light fall straight down onto the table. There is no switch on the fitting itself: it is switched at the wall. It runs on mains power at 220-240V, 50/60Hz, and as a wired ceiling light it is installed by a qualified electrician. Packed, it weighs 8.19KG, so it is worth having a second pair of hands when it comes out of the box. For the softest effect through the amber glass, we like a clear filament bulb, which shows its shape through the shade.

Can the Polverara pendant go in a bathroom or outdoors?

No. It is rated IP20, which means it is made for dry indoor rooms such as a dining room, kitchen or living room, and not for bathrooms or outdoors.
