This is a 45cm square cushion with a loop-tufted face and a plain reversible back. The front carries a polar bear wrapped in an amber-gold striped scarf, wandering through a stand of dark navy trees under a single gold star, with pale flecks of snow across a soft green ground and a green-and-cream striped border framing all four edges. The tufting stands the design up off the cloth, so the bear and the trees have a raised, worked texture you can feel as well as see. The face is polyester and the reverse is cotton, which means you get two very different surfaces on one cushion.

It is a festive, wintry piece, most at home on a sofa or an armchair through the Christmas season, though the wintery scene reads happily right across the colder months. The soft green and cream sit easily against neutral upholstery, natural linen and warm wood, so it works as a single accent or grouped with plainer cushions to let the tufted picture do the talking.
