Description

The Platet A/06 is a tall LED wall light. A slim rod rises from a 15cm base on the wall, then curves over at the top to hold a single conical shade. It is 140cm tall, reaches 30cm out from the wall, and its shade is 20cm across. It is made from aluminium, brass and iron. The light is an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or change. It gives 323 lumens from 4.2W at a warm 2700K, with a CRI of 90, so colours look natural under it. The shade comes in Olive Grey, Light Grey, Terracotta, Black, Antique Brass, White, Textured Grey Blue or Textured Sand Yellow.

We see it as a reading light that needs no table. Fix it on the wall beside a bed, beside an armchair in the living room or over a dining-room sideboard, and it sends a warm pool of light down from its conical shade. The slim rod keeps the whole fitting spare and quiet. It runs on 230V mains and is wired in by an electrician. There is an on/off switch on the fitting itself, which is handy when you are already in bed. It comes in two dimming versions: LED, non-dimmable, with switch, or LED, TRIAC dimmable, which works with a compatible dimmer. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.

The Platet was designed by Christophe Mathieu, and the A/06 keeps to a simple idea: one tall rod, one curved arm and one shade, built from aluminium, brass and iron. Choosing is straightforward. Pick the shade colour that suits your walls, then decide whether you want the non-dimmable version or the TRIAC dimmable version on a compatible dimmer. Whichever you choose, the warm 2700K light suits the evening rooms it is made for, and with the LED built in there is no bulb to source. Our photographs show the olive grey version.
