Description

The Platet A/05 is a tall wall light: a slim upright rod runs up the wall, curves over at the top and holds a single shallow cone shade out into the room. It stands 142cm tall, reaches 30cm out from the wall, and the shade is 20cm across. It is made of aluminium, brass and iron, and the shade comes in Olive Grey, Light Grey, Terracotta, Black, Antique Brass, White, Textured Grey Blue or Textured Sand Yellow. You choose the light source too. The LED version has an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy, and gives 323 lumens of warm 2700K light from 4.2W, with a CRI of 90 that keeps colours looking true; it dims with a push button. The E14 version takes one E14 bulb of up to 9W, not included.

With the shade held high on its long arm and facing down, it suits a bedroom, where it can stand in for a bedside lamp and leave the bedside table clear. In a living room it sits well over a reading chair or a sideboard, and in a dining room a warm pool of light along one wall is kind to an evening meal. A matching pair either side of a bed looks neat. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.

Christophe Mathieu designed the Platet, and the lines are kept simple: one rod, one bend and one shade, held to the wall by two clips. It runs on 230V mains and is wired in by a qualified electrician, and as a Class II fitting it needs no earth connection. When you order, the main choice after the shade colour is the light source: the LED version for push button dimming and no bulbs to buy, or the E14 version if you would rather choose your own bulb.
