Description

The Platet A/01 is an outdoor wall light with the look of a classic industrial wall lamp, brought up to date with an integrated LED. A black cylindrical wall box carries a thin arm that rises and bends over to hold a cone shade in Textured Brown, and the fitting is finished in Ebony Black & Brown. It stands 40cm tall and reaches 30cm out from the wall, with a shade 20cm across and a wall plate 14cm tall. The integrated LED draws 4.2W and gives 323 lumens of warm 2700K light with a CRI of 90, so brickwork, planting and faces keep their true colours. There is no bulb to buy or change.

Rated IP66, it is made for outdoor use and suits an open wall as well as a sheltered one: beside a front door, along a porch, on a garden wall or above a patio table. At 323 lumens it gives a soft, warm light for a doorway, a path or a seating area rather than floodlighting a whole garden, and a pair either side of a door looks well balanced. The 30cm reach holds the shade clear of the wall. It sits as happily on a period house as on a modern one, and suits anyone after a practical outdoor wall light with some character.

The Platet was designed by Christophe Mathieu, and the Platet A/01 is made of aluminium, brass and iron, with a Textured Brown shade whose surface has a fine grain to it. It runs on 230V mains and is wired in by a qualified electrician, and as a Class I fitting it connects to an earth. With its LED built in, once it is on the wall it is ready to light the way to your door every evening.
