Description

The Knightsbridge FLNPIR is a passive infrared motion sensor accessory designed for compatibility with the FLN series LED floodlights. The sensor detects movement within a 120° arc at distances from 2m to 8m, automatically triggering the floodlight when motion is detected and switching it off after a set hold-on period. The sensor unit is IP65 rated for outdoor use and operates across ambient temperatures from -20°C to +40°C.

Installation is plug-and-play: the sensor connects directly to the FLN floodlight housing via a pre-wired cable and three screw terminals on the base of the unit, requiring no additional wiring or separate power supply. The sensor head sits on top of the floodlight, providing a clear field of view for motion detection. Adjustable settings allow the hold-on time to be set from 10 seconds to 7 minutes, and the ambient light threshold from 10 lux to 2000 lux, controlling when the sensor activates based on existing light levels.

The polycarbonate housing is black-finished to match the FLN floodlight range and measures 44mm wide, 35mm high and 57mm projection from the floodlight body once fitted. A manual override facility allows the floodlight to be switched on continuously regardless of motion detection, useful when steady illumination is needed during evening gatherings or when working in the detection zone. The Class II double-insulated construction means no earth connection is required during installation.

Which floodlights is this sensor compatible with?

The FLNPIR is designed specifically for the Knightsbridge FLN series LED floodlights. It connects via a plug-and-play cable and terminal system built into those floodlight models. It is not compatible with other floodlight brands or ranges.

How do I adjust the detection range and hold-on time?

The sensor has two rotary dials on the underside of the unit: one adjusts hold-on time from 10 seconds to 7 minutes, the other sets the ambient light threshold from 10 lux to 2000 lux. The detection range itself is fixed at 2-8m in a 120° arc and cannot be adjusted, but positioning the sensor head affects coverage.

Can I override the sensor to keep the light on continuously?

Yes. The manual override facility allows the floodlight to be switched on continuously regardless of motion detection. This is controlled via the sensor unit itself — see the product specification sheet for the exact procedure.

Is this sensor weatherproof?

Yes. The sensor carries an IP65 rating, meaning it is dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction. It operates across ambient temperatures from -20°C to +40°C, making it suitable for year-round outdoor use in the UK climate.
