Description
Pillars of Ancestry is a five-piece wall installation inspired by the monumental presence of African ancestral totems. Across the panels the design carries a sense of guardianship, memory and continuity, drawing on the legacy of the Motherland and the standing forms that mark it. Assembled, the work measures 300cm wide by 270cm high and covers 8.10 square metres, giving you a large expanse that reads as a single composition once the five parts are brought together. Each piece is made from hand-made textured fibreglass, so no two castings are ever quite identical.
This is a piece for rooms that can hold its scale, from open-plan living areas and lounges to reception spaces in offices, galleries and hospitality settings. It appeals to anyone drawn to sculptural wall art with cultural roots, and to those who want a focal wall that feels considered rather than purely decorative. If you collect African-inspired design or simply want a piece with real depth and character, we think it will sit well with you.
The five panels are cast in fibreglass, which keeps the total weight to 63 kg despite the generous size, and the textured surface gives the work its tactile, three-dimensional quality. Because it is a multi-part piece, each panel is fixed to the wall individually, and we recommend secure wall fixings suited to your surface and a second pair of hands during hanging. To clean, wipe gently with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth and avoid harsh chemicals. For styling, we would let the piece lead the room, keeping surrounding walls plain and using warm, directional lighting to bring out the texture across the five panels.

Frequently Asked
What is it made from?
Each of the five panels is made from hand-made textured fibreglass. The material is light for its size and gives the work a tactile, three-dimensional surface, and because the pieces are hand-made each casting varies slightly.
How do the five pieces go together?
The five panels form a single composition once mounted side by side. We suggest laying them out on the floor first to confirm the arrangement, then transferring the spacing to the wall before you begin fixing.
How is it fixed to the wall?
Each panel is fixed individually to the wall. We recommend using secure fixings appropriate to your wall type, and given the combined weight of 63 kg and the overall size, having a second person to help during installation.
How do I clean it?
Wipe the surface gently with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive pads and harsh chemicals, as these can damage the textured finish over time.
How much wall space do I need?
Assembled, the piece measures 300cm wide by 270cm high and covers 8.10 square metres. Allow a clear wall of at least this size, plus a little extra room around the edges so the composition has space to breathe.
