Description

The Pignona is a ceiling light that sits close overhead on a round black steel canopy, with three tiered shades woven from textile thread. The widest is a broad, shallow disc in warm orange. Beneath it sits a deeper cone in a rich red, and at the centre a cream shade surrounds the bulb. It measures 50cm in diameter and 21cm high, so it covers a good area of ceiling without hanging low into the room. It takes a single E27 screw-cap bulb, which is not included, and it is rated IP20, which means it belongs indoors in a dry room.

Because it sits close to the ceiling, it suits living rooms, bedrooms and dining rooms where a long pendant would crowd the space. The layered cord shades bring warmth and texture to a plain white ceiling, and they sit happily alongside natural wood, cane and soft neutral furnishings. Unlit, the colours still give the room a focal point, and when lit, the open weave lets light pass between the threads. If you want colour overhead without painting or papering, this is an easy way to add it.

The canopy is black steel, and each shade is textile thread wound over a slim frame. You can see the frame as fine dark ribs when you look up into the light.
