Description

The Photonix is a compact outdoor wall light with a white powder-coated aluminium frame and a matt opal plastic diffuser over a single E27 bulb fitting. The IP44 rating protects against water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for porches, patios, covered outdoor entrances, and indoor bathrooms or wet rooms where splash protection is required.

Designed for wall mounting in residential and commercial settings, the Photonix sits 90mm tall and projects 95mm from the wall. The compact profile suits narrow passageways, porch sides, garage entrances and courtyard walls where a larger fitting would overwhelm the space. The matt opal diffuser softens the E27 bulb output into a broad wash of light rather than a focused beam, providing ambient illumination for doorways and walkways without glare.

The extruded aluminium frame is powder-coated in white, giving a clean finish that resists corrosion in outdoor conditions better than painted steel. The opal diffuser hides the bulb shape when switched off, presenting as a simple geometric form on the wall. The E27 fitting accepts LED, CFL or filament bulbs up to the wattage limit specified by the manufacturer, and dimmer compatibility depends on the chosen bulb type.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

Yes. The IP44 rating provides splash protection suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3 (outside the shower enclosure and more than 600mm from the bath). It is not suitable for zone 0 or zone 1 (inside or directly above the bath/shower).

What bulb does it take?

The Photonix takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb. Bulbs are sold separately. Most outdoor applications pair well with a 6-10W warm-white LED for energy efficiency and long life. Check the specification for the maximum wattage allowed.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulb you fit. The fixture itself supports dimming when paired with a dimmable E27 LED and a compatible LED dimmer switch. Non-dimmable LEDs and most CFLs will not dim.

How is it wired?

The Photonix connects to standard mains wiring via a terminal block inside the rear mounting plate. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671 wiring regulations.
