Photonix Outdoor Wall Light - Black

The Photonix is an IP44-rated outdoor wall light built from extruded and turned aluminium with a matt black powder-coated finish and a white plastic diffuser. A single E27 bulb (sold separately) sits behind the diffuser, casting light upwards through the frosted white dome while the black cylindrical housing directs some output forward from the wall.

Designed for patios, covered porches, entrance areas and garden walls, the Photonix provides functional outdoor lighting in spaces protected from direct rainfall and heavy weather exposure. The IP44 rating means the fitting resists water splashes from any direction but is not suitable for continuous submersion or unsheltered positions. The 95mm projection from the wall keeps the diffuser clear of most flat surfaces, while the 90mm height makes it suitable for mounting at eye level or higher without dominating narrow passages.

The aluminium construction handles outdoor temperature variation without warping or corroding under typical UK weather conditions. The matt black powder coating resists fading and provides a low-glare surface that pairs with both dark-painted walls and lighter render or brick. The white diffuser softens the E27 bulb into a more even glow rather than exposing a visible filament or LED chip, making the fitting comfortable to look at when positioned near doorways or seating areas.

The E27 socket accepts any standard Edison screw bulb up to the manufacturer's recommended wattage (check Specification for the exact limit). What does the IP44 rating mean for outdoor use?

IP44 means the fitting resists water splashes from any direction. It suits covered outdoor areas like porches, patios under eaves and garden walls with overhead shelter. It is not rated for fully exposed positions subject to driving rain or direct hose spray.

What bulb does it take?

The Photonix takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb. Bulbs are sold separately. Most outdoor installations use a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K. Check the Specification tab for the maximum wattage limit.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, when paired with a compatible dimmer and a dimmable E27 bulb. The fitting itself supports dimming but both the bulb and the dimmer switch must also be rated for dimming.

Can it be mounted horizontally or vertically?

The image shows horizontal mounting with the diffuser facing upwards. The fitting can be rotated 90 degrees during installation if vertical mounting is preferred, but check that the backplate fixing holes align with your wall surface before drilling.
