Description

A wall mirror, 60cm by 116cm, in peppercorn. At 60cm wide it is a little narrower than a standard interior door. Above furniture, leave roughly 15 to 20cm between the top of the piece and the bottom of the mirror so the two read as a group rather than a stack.

Leather is the only covering that improves with age rather than merely surviving it. It darkens unevenly where it is handled or catches the light, and reads as older rather than shabbier. The strength is in the section, not the bulk: steel holds its shape at a thickness that would flex in almost anything else. It is heavier than aluminium, which is a virtue indoors and a consideration if the piece has to be moved often. Glass borrows its colour from whatever sits behind it, so the same piece looks warmer against a painted wall than against a window. It shows dust sooner than an opaque finish, and cleans in seconds.

It wants a proper fixing rather than a pin: a plasterboard anchor rated above the weight, or a screw into a stud if there is one behind the position you want. It is designed to hang vertically only, not on its side. It weighs 6.35kg.
