Description

A round tray in mango wood, 46cm across with a rim 5cm high. The floor is built up from short segments of wood butted side by side, the grain running a different way in each one so the joins read as a pattern across the base rather than disappearing. Two slots are cut straight through the rim on opposite sides to lift it by, and the rim itself is plain and square edged.

Forty six centimetres carries a pot and two cups with room left over. A 5cm rim is tall enough to hold a cup when the tray tips going through a doorway, and low enough that a hand reaches over it easily. Set down on a coffee table or the top of an ottoman it gathers whatever would otherwise sit loose on the surface.

The tray is mango wood with nothing laid over it. Because the floor is made from separate segments, the tone moves from one piece to the next across the base, some running pale straw and others a deeper honey. Mango is grown first for its fruit and cut for timber only once the trees stop bearing. The Pawi range also runs to a rectangular tray and a breakfast tray.

Frequently Asked

How big is it?

46cm across, with a rim 5cm high.

Does it have handles?

Two slots are cut through the rim on opposite sides to lift it by, rather than handles standing off it.

Is the base one piece of wood?

No. It is built from short segments laid side by side, so the grain runs a different way across each one.

What else is in the range?

A rectangular Pawi tray and a breakfast tray, both in the same wood.

How do I look after it?

Wash it in warm soapy water, then rinse and dry it straight away. Feed the wood now and then with an edible oil such as olive or walnut rubbed in with a soft cloth, which will darken the tone. The colour will shift over time.
