Description

A twelve-piece ceramic dinner set in the Patthar clay colourway. Every piece is finished by hand, with brushed blocks of clay tone laid over a cream ground and a line of fine dots between each block, and because the painting is done one piece at a time the blocks vary in width and depth across a set. The palette is neutral and the banding runs round the rim of each plate and bowl, leaving the centre plain.

The set covers both everyday dining and a table laid for an occasion. The ground is neutral enough to sit alongside linen, wood and glass rather than competing with them, and because the painting is laid on by hand no two pieces on the table are identical. It is dishwasher safe and food safe. The twelve pieces weigh 7.5kg together.

The pieces are ceramic and the painting is done one piece at a time, in delicate brushstrokes over the clay surface. The process asks for precision and control, and only a handful of makers work to this level of detail. The Patthar range runs beyond the set to a side plate, a serving bowl, a jug, a teapot, a butter dish, a cup and saucer, egg cups and mugs.

Frequently Asked

How many pieces are in the set?

Twelve.

Is it dishwasher safe?

Yes.

Is it food safe?

Yes.

How do I look after it?

Wash it after every use so it does not stain. Use a mild detergent and do not leave it to soak. Handle it carefully, because it chips if knocked.

Will the pieces match each other?

Not exactly. Each is painted by hand, so the brushwork differs from piece to piece across a set.
