Description

The Pastrengo 2 is a ring pendant light in white and opal: a broad aluminium hoop, 50cm across, finished in white, with an opal diffuser in white plastic running around the inside of the ring to give an even, gentle glow. It hangs from a round white ceiling canopy on three fine suspension wires and has an overall height of 258cm. The light source is integrated LED, giving 3,060lm at a warm white 3000K. It is rated IP20, and that settles where it belongs: indoors, in a dry room, away from steam and splashing water.

At 50cm across and with 3,060lm behind it, this is a pendant that lights a whole room rather than a corner. We would hang it over a dining table, where the ring frames the table without crowding it, or in the centre of a living room, a kitchen or a generous hallway. The warm 3000K tone suits the evening, and because it is dimmable you can run it as a bright working light for cooking or homework, then bring it down to something softer for supper. The open ring keeps it airy to the eye even at this size, so it sits comfortably in a plain modern room.

The frame is aluminium, the diffuser is plastic, and the whole fitting weighs 4.5KG. The LEDs are replaceable, and both the LED and the driver can be replaced by a specialist, so a failed part need not mean a new light.
