Description

The Pastrengo 1 is a ring pendant light: a slim white circle 50cm wide, hung from a round ceiling canopy on fine suspension wires. The body is steel and the shade is white plastic, both finished in White, so the canopy and the ring match. The light comes from integrated LEDs at 3000K, a warm white that feels relaxed and homely rather than cold. It is rated IP20, which settles where it goes: dry rooms indoors, kept well away from bathrooms and damp spaces.

This pendant has an overall height of 258cm, and we like it above a dining table or a kitchen island, in a living room, or in a hallway with height to spare. The open centre keeps it airy, so it gives a room a clear, graphic shape without blocking the view across the room. Because it is dimmable, on a suitable dimmer switch you can run it bright for cooking or reading and turn it low for a quiet supper. There is no switch on the light itself, as it is switched at the wall.

The LEDs are integrated, yet both the LEDs and the driver can be replaced by a specialist, so a worn part need not mean replacing the whole light. It runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains, and as a wired light it should be installed by a qualified electrician. At 8.99KG it is a substantial fitting, which is worth noting when you choose where it will hang. The installation instructions come as a PDF download, so you and your electrician can read them before the day of fitting.
