Description

The Parwaha is a garden table with a rectangular marble top, 90cm by 60cm, standing 48cm high on a curved iron base. The marble is off white with faint grey veining and a squared edge a couple of centimetres thick. The base is built as two end frames of bent iron rod, joined near the top by a pair of flat rails that run under the marble and near the floor by a curved cross stretcher with a small boss where the two arcs meet. Each leg finishes in a small flattened pad. The metal carries a brass finish that has been worked unevenly, so it runs from a warm gold on the high points to a darker bronze where it sinks.

At 48cm it is the height of a low table rather than a dining one, which puts the top level with the seat of a garden bench and a hand's reach from anyone sitting beside it. The 90cm by 60cm top takes a tray, a pot and a pair of glasses at once, and is long enough to sit between two benches facing one another rather than in front of a single one. The table is suitable for outdoor use, and at 29kg it stays where it is put on a terrace or a stone path.

The top is marble and the base is iron under a brass finish. Marble is cut from stone, so the veining, the grey in it and the exact tone of the off white differ from top to top. Marble is porous and will take a mark from what is left standing on it. Nothing else is included with the table.
