Description
Oxide is a flat panel of printed glass 101cm by 142cm, with a mottled gold pattern laid over the mirror and a pale open area near the centre where the glass stays clear. There is no frame. The print runs over the corner and off the edge, so what you see at the border is the bare glass itself, 2.5cm thick.
The pattern is dense at the sides and thins towards the middle, which means the mirror works hardest where you actually use it and reads as surface everywhere else. Hung portrait in a hallway it behaves more like a panel than a mirror; over a chest of drawers it gives back enough reflection to be useful. It is rated for a bathroom, so steam is not a problem, and it hangs one way up. At 24kg it is a two person lift and two screws, washers and plugs come with it.
The glass is printed and mirrored, with nothing applied to the face that can lift or peel. Clean it with glass cleaner sprayed onto a cloth rather than onto the panel, and keep liquid off the cut edge. Because the pattern sits in the mirror rather than on top of it, the colour shifts with the light in the room through the day: flat and pale under grey sky, warmer and more metallic with a lamp on it. The supplier calls this one Bronze in its own range naming, while the glass colour it records is gold, and gold is what the panel looks like. We have kept both, the name in the title and the colour in the table below.

Frequently Asked
Does it have a frame?
No. The print runs to the edge and the bare glass edge is what you see, 2.5cm thick.
Is the pattern gold or bronze?
Gold. Our supplier names the model Bronze but records the glass colour as gold, and gold is what the panel looks like.
Can it go in a bathroom?
Yes. It is rated bathroom proof, so steam and humidity are fine.
Which way up does it hang?
One way only, portrait, with the clear area sitting centre high.
Is it a one person job to hang?
No. At 24kg and 142cm tall it wants two people.
