Description
The Otas is a rectangular ottoman upholstered in a thick off white cotton boucle, 113cm wide, 68cm deep and 43cm high. The fabric runs unbroken over the top and down all four sides, with no buttoning, no piping and no seam along the top edge, so the looped pile is the only surface there is. It stands on four turned mango wood legs, each cut with a collar under the frame, a wide bulb, a waist and a small round foot.
At 43cm the top sits level with most sofa seats, which is what lets two people use it as a footrest at once or a tray stand on it as a low table. It sits centred in front of a three seat sofa, with floor clear on three sides. Across a bedroom it takes the foot of a double bed. The top is fixed, so nothing goes inside it.
The upholstery is cotton and the legs are mango wood. The yarn is a heavy cotton spun into a loop pile, so the surface is uneven by construction and catches light differently from one side of the top to the other. Mango is grown first for its fruit and felled for timber only once the trees stop bearing, which is what makes the wood available. The Otas range also runs to an armchair in the same fabric.

Frequently Asked
Is there storage inside it?
No. The upholstery runs unbroken over the top and down every side, with no lid line and no hinge, so there is no compartment inside.
How high is it?
43cm to the top of the pad, which is about the height of a sofa seat.
What is the fabric?
A cotton boucle woven from a heavy cotton yarn, which is what gives it the looped, nubbly surface.
Is there a matching chair?
Yes. The Otas range also runs to an armchair in the same off white boucle.
How do I look after it?
Blot a spill straight away with a sponge or a soft cloth. It can be cleaned professionally. Keep it out of direct sunlight, where the colour may fade.
