The Osier is a flush ceiling light with a ceramic shade in a Matt White Striped glaze, held close to the ceiling on a round brass ceiling plate. Fine vertical stripes run the length of the shade, which is rounded at the top and open at the base, so the matt white surface reads as gently textured rather than flat. It takes a single E27 bulb, up to 40W per bulb, and bulbs are sold separately, so you choose your own. At 19.5cm tall and 12cm across, it is a compact ceramic ceiling light that keeps a low profile.

We like the Osier best in a hallway, where a ceiling light should stay neat and out of the way. Because it sits close to the ceiling and is only 12cm across, it suits a narrow passage or an entrance where a hanging pendant would feel crowded. Each Osier is made to order for you in Ireland, from brass and ceramic. The brass ceiling plate and the collar that holds the shade take the finish you choose, with the Matt Black painted to RAL 9005, handy if you are matching other black fittings in the house. Whichever finish you pick, the shade keeps the same Matt White Striped glaze. The maker guarantees the fittings it makes for five years from the date of purchase; bulbs are not covered. The Osier is wired in to the mains by a qualified electrician, so it is worth booking one when you order.
