Description

The Orbix is a 60cm LED bathroom mirror light with an integrated 18W 3000K LED built into a white powder-coated aluminium bar. The fitting mounts horizontally above or alongside a mirror, with a 40mm projection from the wall and a satin acrylic diffuser that spreads light evenly downward across the mirror surface and countertop below.

Designed for medium to large bathroom mirrors between 50-80cm wide, the Orbix provides functional task lighting for grooming without creating glare or hard shadows. The IP54 rating allows installation in bathroom zones 2 and 3, where the fitting may be exposed to steam and splashes but not direct water jets. The light mounts directly to the wall or above a mirror cabinet using two fixing points concealed behind the bar.

The white powder coat over aluminium resists moisture better than painted steel and keeps a clean finish in humid bathroom conditions. The 3000K colour temperature produces warm white light that renders skin tones accurately for makeup application and shaving. At 18W the LED output is approximately equivalent to a 100W halogen bar light while consuming far less energy and producing minimal heat.

The non-dimmable LED driver is built into the fitting and connects to standard 230V mains wiring behind the wall. The aluminium body acts as both structure and heat sink, allowing the LED to run cool enough that the outer surface remains safe to touch even after extended use.

What bathroom zones can it be installed in?

The IP54 rating makes the Orbix suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3, where it may encounter steam and splashes but not direct water jets from showers or taps. It should not be installed in zone 0 (inside a bath or shower enclosure) or zone 1 (directly above a bath or shower to a height of 2.25m).

Is it dimmable?

No. The integrated LED driver does not support dimming. The light operates at full 18W output when switched on.

What mirror width does it suit?

The 60cm length works best with mirrors between 50-80cm wide. For smaller mirrors under 50cm, consider the 40cm version of the Orbix. For larger mirrors over 80cm, the 80cm or 100cm versions provide better coverage.

Can it be mounted vertically?

The Orbix is designed for horizontal mounting above or alongside a mirror. Vertical mounting is possible but the downward light emission pattern means most of the light would be directed sideways rather than onto the mirror surface, reducing its effectiveness as task lighting.
