Description

The Opal is a 400mm frosted white glass flush ceiling light with a polished chrome mount and three E27 bulb fittings inside the dome. The frosted glass diffuser curves outward in a shallow hemisphere that sits 140mm below the ceiling, spreading light evenly across the room while concealing the bulbs themselves from direct view.

Designed for rooms with ceiling heights below 2.4m where a pendant would hang too low, the Opal provides ambient lighting in bedrooms, hallways, landings and low-ceilinged living rooms. The 400mm diameter covers enough ceiling area to light a 3-4m square room when paired with three warm-white LED bulbs. The flush mount means the fitting takes up minimal vertical space, leaving headroom clear in tight ceiling spaces such as loft conversions, period cottages with low beams, or flats with concrete slab ceilings.

The frosted glass diffuser softens the light from all three E27 bulbs, preventing harsh shadows and glare. The polished chrome mount sits flat against the ceiling and provides a clean metallic accent that pairs with chrome taps, door handles and cabinet hardware in bathrooms and kitchens, or with brushed steel appliances and contemporary furniture in living spaces. Is the Opal dimmable?

Yes, provided you use dimmable E27 bulbs and pair the fitting with a compatible dimmer switch. Most warm-white LED bulbs rated 6-10W are available in dimmable versions. Check the bulb packaging before purchase.

What bulbs does it take?

The Opal takes three E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, sold separately. For a 3-4m square room, three 8-10W warm-white LED bulbs at 2700K-3000K provide comfortable ambient light without excessive brightness.

What ceiling height is needed?

The fitting projects 140mm below the ceiling, making it suitable for rooms with ceiling heights as low as 2.2m. In standard 2.4m-height rooms it sits well clear of head height.

How is the glass dome cleaned?

The frosted glass dome can be wiped with a dry microfibre cloth when the power is off and the fitting has cooled. For stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with water is acceptable. Avoid sprays or chemical cleaners that may damage the frosted finish.
