Description
The Om is a dining chair in solid mango wood, 92cm to the top of the back. The back is a single rail bent into a shallow curve with rounded top corners, carried on two uprights, with four turned spindles standing between them. The seat is solid and shaped, scooped across the middle and rounded off at the front edge. Four round legs taper towards the floor and splay out beyond the line of the seat, tied together by a stretcher on each side and one across the middle. The wood is sandblasted, which lifts the grain and leaves the surface open and textured rather than flat.
The seat sits 48cm from the floor and measures 42cm across by 41cm deep, and the chair occupies 45cm by 45cm on the floor. The frame holds up to 100kg. At a round pedestal table it needs drawing back far enough that the splayed back legs stand clear of a rug. There are no arms, so it pushes fully under a table when it is not in use, and the open spindle back shows the room behind it rather than closing off the view.
The chair is solid mango wood and nothing else. Mango is cut for timber only once the tree has stopped bearing fruit, which is what makes the wood available. Each chair is carved, turned, sandblasted and finished by hand, so the grain and the tone run differently from one to the next. The wood is treated with a sealant. It is sold singly, and it pairs with the Fioni reclaimed wood dining table.

Frequently Asked
How high is the seat?
48cm from the floor. The seat is 42cm across and 41cm deep.
How much weight will it take?
Up to 100kg.
Is it sold singly?
Yes. This is one chair.
Why does the surface feel textured?
The mango wood is sandblasted, which lifts the grain and leaves it standing slightly proud of the surface. The wood is then treated with a sealant.
How do I look after it?
Wipe the surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth to remove dust and moisture, always working in the direction of the grain. Mild soap and water can be used, but take care not to use excess water, which may damage the finish. Mop up any spill at once, use coasters and mats, and keep harsh chemicals and abrasive materials away. Strong direct sunlight will fade the wood, and extremes of heat and humidity can cause cracking and splitting.
Will every chair look the same?
No. Each one is shaped and finished by hand from solid mango, so the grain and the tone vary from chair to chair.
