Description

The Noon is a 1250mm diameter sputnik-style pendant light built around a central polished nickel sphere from which 20 clear glass arms radiate outward. Each arm combines a cylindrical glass rod with an elongated teardrop-shaped glass droplet, creating a dense spherical arrangement that mixes straight lines with fluid curved forms. The 20 E14 bulb fittings sit within the central nickel hub, directing light outward through the glass rods and droplets so that each element becomes both a decorative and light-diffusing component.

Designed for double-height entrance halls, hotel lobbies, and large open-plan living spaces with ceiling heights of 3.5m or higher, the Noon requires significant vertical clearance to display its full 2702mm maximum drop. The minimum drop of 1300mm allows some adjustment on installation but still assumes substantial ceiling height. The 17.7kg weight requires secure fixing to a structural ceiling point capable of supporting the load, and the pendant is not suited to standard plasterboard ceilings without additional reinforcement.

The polished nickel finish provides a cool metallic tone that contrasts with the transparency of the clear glass, creating a defined edge where the metal framework meets the glass elements. Each glass rod is positioned radially from the central sphere with consistent spacing, forming a symmetrical pattern when viewed from any angle. The combination of rod and droplet shapes on each arm gives the pendant a textured surface that catches and refracts light differently depending on viewing position and whether the bulbs are lit. The E14 fittings accept standard small Edison screw bulbs up to 20W each (sold separately), allowing control over total output and colour temperature depending on bulb choice.

The Noon's scale and geometry make it a functional sculptural centrepiece rather than a general room light. It works as a feature in spaces where its full diameter can be appreciated from multiple viewing angles and where the ceiling height allows the pendant to hang without overwhelming the room. The polished nickel pairs with both contemporary interiors featuring cool greys and whites, and with warmer-toned schemes where the metal provides tonal contrast against timber, brass or terracotta finishes.

Frequently Asked

What bulbs does the Noon take?

The pendant takes 20 E14 (small Edison screw) bulbs, each rated up to 20W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K to create ambient light through the glass rods and droplets.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 1300mm minimum drop and 1250mm diameter require a ceiling height of at least 3.5m to allow the pendant to hang without dominating the space. Double-height halls, atriums and large open-plan rooms with 4-5m ceilings suit the Noon best, where the full drop can be appreciated and the pendant sits clear of head height.

Is the Noon dimmable?

Yes, when paired with dimmable E14 bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch. The pendant itself has no electronics, so dimmer compatibility depends on the bulbs chosen and the dimmer installed on the circuit.

How is the pendant secured to the ceiling?

The 17.7kg weight requires secure fixing to a structural ceiling point capable of supporting the load. Standard plasterboard ceilings need additional reinforcement such as a ceiling plate fixed to joists or a concrete ceiling insert. The pendant is supplied with a ceiling canopy and suspension components but professional installation is recommended for safe load-bearing fixing.
