The Nolmane is a traditional lantern-style outdoor wall light that sits upright on a curved arm, with a six-sided head of clear glass panels beneath a flared, domed roof and a pointed finial. The body is cast aluminium in black with a silver patina, the silver showing on the raised edges and detailing. It stands 42.5cm high and 20cm long, and projects 28.5cm from the wall, a size that suits a front door or porch without crowding it. It takes a single E27 bulb of up to 60W, which is not included, so you choose the colour and brightness of the light yourself. Rated IP44, it is protected from splashing water, so it lives outdoors on a house wall throughout the year.

The motion sensor sits at the foot of the wall plate and switches the lamp on whenever it picks up movement, so a path, doorstep or driveway is lit as you arrive and you are not hunting for keys in the dark. Corner mounting is possible too, so it can go on the outside corner of a house, a garage or an outbuilding as well as on a flat wall. We think it suits period cottages, Victorian terraces and newer homes alike, anywhere a classic carriage-lantern look belongs by the front door, the back step or along a garden wall.

Aluminium does not rust the way iron does, which counts for a light that lives outside through every season, and the cast body carries the moulded detail of the roof, arm and wall plate.
