Description

The Nit/80/R is a lamp and a low table in one: a round ivory top 80cm across, set on a drum of beige woven cord, with a light ring 17cm across in the centre of the top. It stands 42cm tall, and the woven base is 72cm across where it meets the ground. The light is an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or change: 3W giving 133 lumens of warm 2700K light with a CRI of 90, which keeps the colours of food, drinks and faces true. It is made from aluminium, HPL (a high-pressure laminate) and synthetic fibre nautical cord, in the Ivory Top & Beige Synthetic Fibre finish.

Rated IP44 and running on a rechargeable battery, it suits outdoor use: on a terrace, a patio or a garden seating area it gives you somewhere to set down a glass and a gentle light to see it by, with no cable to run. At 42cm tall it sits at coffee table height beside a sofa or a pair of lounge chairs. Bring it indoors and it works as well in a living room or a bedroom, as a low table that doubles as an evening light, its woven cord base glowing softly once the light is on.

The battery charges by USB-C and the lamp runs at 5V DC, so once it is charged it needs no cable wherever it stands. Gonzalo Milà designed the Nit/80/R, setting the light ring into the centre of the top so the rest of the surface stays clear for cups, books and plates. It pairs aluminium and HPL with synthetic fibre nautical cord wound around the base, the cord running in vertical lines from the top to the ground. Before you choose a spot, allow for the 80cm across the top, and give it a charge during the day so it is ready for the evening.
