Description

The Nit/60/R is an outdoor table lamp that doubles as a low side table. A round top 60cm across sits on a flared body of woven cord, and a light ring 17cm across is set into the centre of the top. It stands 42cm tall, with the woven body 40.5cm tall and 52cm across at its foot. It is made from aluminium, HPL and synthetic fibre nautical cord, with the top in a Terracotta finish and the body woven in orange cord. The light is an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or change: 3W giving 133 lumens of warm 2700K light, with a CRI of 90 so colours around it look natural.

It is rated IP44 and made for outdoor use, so it suits a terrace, a patio, a balcony or a garden. We like it beside a lounge chair or between two seats, with room on top for a glass, a book or a plate. A soft glow rises from the ring and shows through the cords, enough to see the table by after dark rather than to light a whole garden. As it runs on a rechargeable battery, there is no cable across the ground, so it can go wherever you sit that evening. It is just as at home indoors, beside a sofa in the living room or as a low bedside table in a bedroom.

The design is by Gonzalo Milà. The light sits within its 17cm ring, so the rest of the 60cm top stays clear to use, and the open weave of the cord lets the glow from inside reach the ground around it. It runs at 5V DC from its rechargeable battery, so there is no wiring and nothing for an electrician to do. When the battery runs low, charge it by USB-C, then set it back by your chair for the evening.
