Description

This Nirbarne LED downlight is a small square light that sits recessed into the wall, its white face broken only by an angled opening that directs the glow towards the floor. The steel body is finished in white, and the face measures 8cm long and 8cm wide. Inside, an integrated LED draws 2W and gives 90lm at 3000K, a warm white that works as gentle guidance rather than as the main light in a room. It is rated IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in dry rooms, hallways and stairwells.

Set a run of them low on a staircase wall, one beside each step, and the treads pick up a soft wash of light that makes the way clear at night. They suit landings, hallways and corridors in the same way, marking a route low on the wall where a ceiling light would feel too bright for a late trip to the kitchen. Because the face sits almost flush with the plaster, the wall stays clean and uncluttered by day, and the LED is tucked at the top of the angled recess, so the light falls onto the wall and the step beneath it.

The light fits a round cut-out 6.8cm wide and needs a recess depth of 5cm, so it is worth confirming that much space inside the wall before you settle on a position. It is a wired 220-240V mains light, so it should be installed by a qualified electrician, and it has no switch of its own: it works from a wall switch. It is not dimmable, and the integrated LED is not replaceable, which means there is never a bulb to buy or change. The installation instructions are available as a download.
