Description
The Nirbarne is a small square LED downlight that sits recessed into the wall. Its black steel faceplate measures 8cm wide and 8cm long. A tapered opening in the face hides the LED near the top and throws its light downwards, so you see a soft wash across the floor or stair tread rather than a bright point. The LED is integrated, drawing 2W and giving 90lm at 3000K, a warm white. It is rated IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in dry rooms, and nowhere near water or weather.
Low lights like this earn their place where people walk in the dark. Set a row of them beside a staircase and each tread is picked out clearly without lighting the whole stairwell. They work just as well low on a hallway, landing or corridor wall, giving a gentle guide through the house at night with no glare. At 90lm each, they are made for marking a route rather than lighting a room, so they sit happily alongside your main ceiling lights. The black finish reads as a crisp square against pale plaster.
The body is steel with a fine, textured black finish, and once fitted only the square faceplate shows. It needs a 6.5cm cut-out and a recess depth of 5cm, which is worth checking against the wall you have in mind. The LED is fixed and cannot be replaced. The light is not dimmable, so it gives the same steady glow every time. There is no switch on the light itself: it runs on mains power at 220 to 240V and is switched at the wall. As a wired-in mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician. Packed, it weighs 0.204KG, and the installation instructions come as a download, so you and your electrician can check the cut-out and depth before any work begins.

Frequently Asked
Can the Nirbarne go outdoors or in a bathroom?
No. It is rated IP20, which means indoors and dry only, so keep it away from bathrooms, outdoor walls and anywhere damp.
How bright is the light?
Each downlight gives 90lm from 2W at 3000K, a warm white. That is right for marking steps and walkways rather than lighting a whole room.
What size hole does it need?
It needs a 6.5cm cut-out and a recess depth of 5cm. The square faceplate that shows on the wall is 8cm wide and 8cm long.
Is the downlight dimmable?
No, it is not dimmable. It has no switch of its own and is switched at the wall, giving the same steady glow each time.
Can the LED be replaced?
No. The LED is fixed inside the light and cannot be replaced, so there is never a separate bulb to buy or change.
What material is the body?
The body is steel with a fine, textured black finish that looks neat against pale plaster and suits stair and hallway walls.
