Description

A counter stool with a solid mango wood frame and an upholstered seat and back. The frame is left rough sawn, so the saw marks run across the timber under a pale finish, and the back legs sweep away behind the seat while the front pair drop straight to the floor. The seat pad and the low back panel are covered in a natural linen with a fine grey stripe running through it, and a line of dark tacks fixes the fabric along the underside of the seat.

The seat sits 69cm off the floor, which is counter height rather than bar height, so it pulls up to a kitchen island or a worktop rather than to a tall bar. The back rises 36cm above the seat, enough to lean into without the stool standing far above the counter line. A stretcher crosses the front at shin height for the feet, and the frame is braced on both sides and again at the back. At an island the seat tucks part way under.

The frame is mango wood and the upholstery is linen. The rough sawn finish leaves the grain and the saw marks standing proud rather than sanded flat, so each frame takes the pale finish differently and no two come out at the same tone. The stripe runs with the weave, the full height of the back panel and the full depth of the seat. Nidhi is also made as a dining chair.
