Description

Nick L Silver is a full length wall mirror 189cm high by 106cm wide, in a wide surround whose faceted profile comes from a folded sheet of paper. Each fold catches light on its own plane, and the hand applied silver metal leaf breaks the reflection into fragments rather than returning it evenly, which is what makes the folds read from across a room. The surround is cast in polyurethane in one piece, so it is light for its size and unaffected by humidity. The design is by Annemie Vanzieleghem.

At 189cm it is a dressing mirror as well as a piece, and 106cm wide is unusually broad for that height, so it reads as a panel rather than a slim upright. It hangs in two directions, which for a surround this symmetrical is a real choice rather than a correction. It is not rated for bathroom use, so keep it to dry rooms despite the frame being humidity stable. At 29kg it is a two person lift onto fixings that reach something solid, with two screws, washers and plugs supplied and nothing to assemble. The same design is made with the surround finished in gold leaf.

The mirror is mirrored glass in a moulded synthetic surround finished in hand applied silver metal leaf. Clean the glass with cleaner sprayed onto a soft cloth and dust the leafed surround dry, without solvent, since the leaf is thin and sits on the surface. Because the leaf is laid by hand the fragmenting differs slightly from piece to piece. Seven year warranty, made in Belgium.
