Description

This is a modern wall light with a built-in reading light, finished in matt white. A slim rectangular backplate carries an adjustable cylindrical head on a short pivoting joint, so you can angle the beam where you want it: onto the pages of a book, or away from someone already asleep. The light comes from an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to fit or replace. It draws 3W and gives 180 lumens of warm 3000K light with a CRI of 80 or above, spread through a 110° beam. That makes it a gentle light for reading by rather than one to light a whole room. The backplate also has its own switch and a USB port, handy for keeping a phone charged overnight.

Its natural home is the bedroom, fixed to the wall either side of a headboard, where it leaves the bedside table free for a book and a glass of water. It works just as well in a guest room, beside a reading chair in a living room, or over a desk in a study or home office. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. It is switched on and off rather than dimmed, so it needs no dimmer, and because the switch is on the fitting itself you can turn it off without getting out of bed. It suits anyone who reads late while a partner sleeps.

The structure is iron with an aluminium base, finished in matt white that sits quietly against pale walls and suits a modern room. It runs on 220-240V mains and is for a qualified electrician to install. It carries a 3 year guarantee. As a styling note, we like these in a pair, one each side of the bed, with the heads turned slightly inwards; keep the wall around them plain and the clean white lines do the rest.
