Description

The Nao is a rectangular LED wall light with an adjustable reading light, finished in matt black. A rectangular backplate sits flat against the wall, and from its top a cylindrical head angles to point the light where you want it, onto a page, a pillow or a desk. The light comes from an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to fit or replace. It draws 3W and gives 180 lumens of warm white light at 3000K, with a colour rendering index of 80 or more, so print and colours look natural. The beam spreads at 110°, a soft pool of light rather than a narrow spot.

We see the Nao first as a bedside light. Fixed to the wall beside a bed, it leaves the bedside tables clear for books and a glass of water, and with one on each side, each person can angle their own light so one can read while the other sleeps. It also suits a reading corner beside an armchair, a guest room, or a study where a focused light over a desk is more useful than another ceiling light. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. It works on a simple on-off push switch set into the backplate and is not dimmable, so it gives the same steady output every time.

The Nao has an iron structure on an aluminium base, finished in matt black for a soft, low-sheen look against white, grey or darker painted walls. It runs at 220-240V and is a mains fitting, so a qualified electrician should install it. It carries a 3 year guarantee. For a neat, balanced look, set one on each side of a headboard at matching heights and angle both heads towards the pillows; the clean rectangular lines suit modern bedrooms well.
