Description

The Nao is a circular wall light in matt white with its own reading light: a slim tube head on a short arm that is adjustable, so you can angle the light onto your book or your side of the bed. A USB port sits in the round base, handy for charging a phone overnight. The light comes from an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to fit or replace. It draws 3W and gives 180 lumens at 3000K, a warm white, with a colour rendering index of 80 or more and a 110° beam. The reading head is 10cm long and 2.5cm across, a neat, slender shape on the wall.

Its natural place is beside the bed. Fitted either side of a headboard, a pair gives each of you a reading light and somewhere to charge a phone, with nothing taking up room on the bedside table. It works just as well in a guest room, by a reading chair in a living room or over a desk in a study, anywhere you want light where you read rather than across the whole room. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. It switches simply on and off and is not dimmable, so there is no dimmer to choose, and its warm white light sits comfortably in a modern bedroom.

The Nao is built from iron and aluminium and finished in matt white, a soft, flat finish with no shine. It runs on 220-240V mains, so it is for a qualified electrician to install, and it carries a 3 year guarantee. Against a pale wall the round base all but disappears and the tube head reads as a crisp, modern detail; against a deeper painted wall the white stands out as a clean graphic accent.
