Description

The Nao is a circular LED wall light with a reading light built in: a round matt white backplate carrying a slim cylindrical head, 10cm long and 2.5cm across. The head is adjustable, so you can angle it to put light just where you need it, onto the page of a book. The light comes from an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to fit or replace. It draws 3W and gives 180 lumens at 3000K, a warm white that suits evening reading. A colour rendering index of 80 or more keeps print and colours looking natural, and the 110° beam gives a generous spread rather than a narrow spot.

Its natural home is beside the bed. Fixed either side of a double bed, a pair gives each sleeper their own reading light without lighting the whole room, and it leaves the bedside table free. It suits an armchair in a reading corner or a desk in a study just as well. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. It switches on and off rather than dimming, so it needs no dimmer, and the round push switch on the backplate sits within arm's reach, so you can put it out without getting out of bed.

The Nao is made of iron and aluminium and finished in matt white, a soft, low-sheen finish that keeps it modern and unfussy, and the pairing of a round plate and a slim tube gives it a graphic outline. As a mains fitting, it is for a qualified electrician to install, and it carries a 3 year guarantee. For styling, matt white all but disappears against a white or pale painted wall, leaving just the pool of light; against a darker colour such as deep green or navy, the round plate becomes a crisp shape beside the headboard.
