Description

The Nans Sphere S/80 is a large woven outdoor pendant light, a sphere 80cm across and 76cm tall. Its shade is synthetic fibre woven in Beige (with Light Blue and Light Grey) over a Graphite Brown structure, and the light filters softly through the open weave. Inside sits an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or change. It draws 24W and gives 722 lumens of warm 2700K light with a CRI of 90, which keeps food, faces and the colours of cushions true. It is TRIAC dimmable, so on a compatible dimmer you can bring it right down for a slow evening outside.

Rated IP54, it suits outdoor use, so it belongs over a dining table on a covered terrace, under a pergola or on a sheltered patio where you eat on summer evenings. It works just as well indoors, over a long dining table or in a living room with a high ceiling, where its 80cm sphere gives the room a single focal point. With its 200cm suspension it measures 276cm from top to bottom overall, so it wants generous height; measure your ceiling or beam before you choose where it hangs. We like several hung in a line over a long table.

The structure is stainless steel and aluminium in Graphite Brown, and the shade is synthetic fibre worked into an open mesh in Beige (with Light Blue and Light Grey), a blend of tones that reads as a warm, sandy neutral against stone, timber and planting. The weave gives the sphere texture by day, when it is switched off, as well as a gentle glow after dark. It runs on 230V and is a Class I fitting, wired in to the mains by a qualified electrician. Once it is up, the integrated LED means there is no bulb to change: set the dimmer to suit the evening and enjoy it.
