Description

The Nans 55 A/98 is a plug-in wall light with a long brown arm reaching out from a 12cm wall plate and a wide woven cone shade hanging from its far end. The shade is 55cm across and 12cm tall, a shallow cone of woven synthetic fibre with a fine open pattern. We sell it in three shade colours: Red (with Orange and Beige), Brown (with Beige and Light Grey) and Beige (with Light Blue and Light Grey), each paired with the same brown structure. The arm is 98cm long and the whole light projects 125.5cm from the wall, so the shade sits well out into the room.

Because it plugs in on a 4m cable, it brings a hanging shade to a spot with no ceiling point and no new wiring. We like it reaching over a dining table set near a wall, beside a reading chair in the living room, or over a bedside table in the bedroom, where the long arm leaves the surface beneath clear. Each of the three shade colours sits well in a room of wood, linen and cane, and the brown structure keeps the arm quiet against a pale wall. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms indoors only.

It is made from aluminium, stainless steel and synthetic fibre, with the fibre woven into the shallow cone of the shade. It runs at 230V and takes one E27 bulb of up to 15W. That bulb is sold separately and is what gives the light, so pick one up alongside it. The fitting is dimmable and dims with a compatible dimmer. With 125.5cm of projection, it is worth measuring the clear space out from the wall before choosing its spot, and planning where the 4m cable will drop to the nearest socket. It has a plug on its cable, and we include a UK adaptor in the box, so it is ready for a UK socket. Our photographs show the red version.
