Nakuru Iron & Glass Coffee Table - Brass

A rectangular coffee table 140cm long, 70cm deep and 45cm high, built from square section iron in a brass finish and carrying two clear glass panels. The top pane sits flush inside the frame and a second pane rests on a lower rail, held clear of the floor. Nothing fills the frame between the two, so the rug and the floor show through the table from every side.

One hundred and forty centimetres runs the length of a three seat sofa and leaves a reach at both ends, and 70cm of depth takes a tray laid across it. The lower pane holds books and the things that would otherwise stack on the top, which leaves the upper one clear for drinks. At 45cm the top stands level with most sofa cushions, so a glass is set down without reaching.

The frame is iron under a brass finish and both panes are glass. The sections are square and slim and the corners meet flush, so the frame reads as one continuous line round each face rather than as four separate bars. It weighs 26.1kg. How do I look after it?

Clean the glass with a glass cleaner or warm soapy water and the frame with a damp cloth, then dry and polish both with a soft non-abrasive cloth. Nothing abrasive and no harsh chemicals on either. Do not put very hot or very cold things straight down on the glass, and keep it on firm, level ground.
