Muturi Floor Lamp - Antique Brass

The Muturi is a reading floor lamp with a solid brass shade. A wide flared foot spreads on the floor like a spun cone, a slim column rises from its centre and cranks forward at the top into a short horizontal arm, and a bell shaped brass shade hangs from the end of it, open at the mouth and brighter inside than out. The brass is antiqued and faintly streaked, and the flex is black braid with a foot switch on the cord.

The shade hangs 52cm forward of the foot, which is what lets the base stand clear of a chair while the light falls into it. Because the shade is solid metal and closed at the top, all of the light leaves the mouth: a defined pool below rather than a glow across the room. It stands 147cm tall, so the shade hangs above the head of someone seated and the bulb stays out of view. It takes one E27 bulb up to 40W and it is rated IP20, for dry indoor rooms.

The frame is iron in an antique brass finish and the shade is brass, so the colour outside and the reflection inside are the same metal. The shade is included, so this arrives as a complete lamp rather than a base. The Muturi range also holds the same lamp in aged bronze. Bulbs are not included.

Does the shade come with it?

Yes. The brass shade is part of the lamp, so it needs only a bulb.

How far does the shade reach from the foot?

52cm. That is enough to stand the foot beside a chair rather than under it, and still have the light land on a book.

Is 40W enough for reading?

Aimed down from 147cm into a solid shade, yes, over the seat below it. It is a reading lamp rather than a light for a whole room.

What colour is the cable?

Black braid, with a black foot switch on the floor.

How do I clean it?

Unplug it and let the shade cool, then a soft dry cloth. Keep abrasives and harsh chemicals off the antique finish.
