Muturi Floor Lamp - Aged Bronze

The Muturi in aged bronze is the same lamp as the brass one in a darker finish. A wide flared foot spreads on the floor, a slim column rises from its centre and cranks forward at the top, and a bell shaped shade hangs from the end of the arm, open at the mouth. The outside is a deep gunmetal bronze; the inside of the shade is left warm and bright, so the reflected light is gold against a dark shell. The flex is black braid with a foot switch.

The shade hangs 52cm forward of the foot, so the base stands clear of a chair while the light falls into it. A solid shade closed at the top sends everything out of the mouth, which makes a defined pool below rather than a glow across the room, and the dark outside keeps the fitting quiet when the lamp is off. It stands 146cm, so the shade sits above a seated head. It takes one E27 bulb up to 40W and it is rated IP20, for dry indoor rooms.

The frame is iron under the aged bronze, and the shade is included, so this arrives complete rather than as a base. At 5.12kg it is heavier than the brass version of the same lamp, and the weight is in the foot. The Muturi range also holds this lamp in antique brass. Bulbs are not included.

Does the shade come with it?

Yes. The shade is part of the lamp, so it needs only a bulb.

How is it different from the brass one?

Only the finish. Same shape, same reach, same bulb. The bronze reads much darker when the lamp is off, while the inside of the shade stays warm so the light itself is the same colour.

How far does the shade reach from the foot?

52cm, which lets the foot stand beside a chair rather than under it.

How do I clean it?

Unplug it and let the shade cool, then a soft dry cloth. The aged bronze is a surface finish, so abrasives and harsh chemicals will take it back to the metal.
