Description
A candlestick 17cm high, standing on a flat iron disc 8cm across. The stem is a plain column wrapped tightly in woven bamboo, pale gold against the black, and above it the iron opens into a cup with a flared, slightly uneven rim. The iron runs black through the foot, the knop and the cup, and the surface is left rough rather than worked smooth, so the black reads matt and holds every mark of the forming.
The cup takes a tapered dinner candle and holds it upright rather than gripping it, so most of the candle stands proud of the rim. At 17cm this is the smaller of the two sizes made, and stood beside the taller one the two flames step at different heights. The 8cm iron foot is wide and heavy enough for the candlestick to sit flat on a shelf, a mantel or a table.
The frame is iron, finished black, and the stem is wrapped by hand in woven bamboo. The weave is worked over heat, so the tone runs from straw to a deeper toasted brown along the same stem and no two are banded alike. A taller size is made in the same two materials. The candle is not included.

Frequently Asked
What candle does it take?
A tapered dinner candle. The cup holds it upright rather than gripping it, so the candle stands well above the rim.
How tall is it?
17cm, on a foot 8cm across. A taller size is made as well.
What is the stem wrapped in?
Woven bamboo, wound by hand around the iron and worked over heat, which is what gives the tone its variation.
How do I look after it?
Wipe it with a soft damp cloth and take off any excess wax after every use so that it does not build up. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners away from it, as they may damage the finish.
Does it get hot in use?
Yes. Position the candle securely, keep it out of reach of children, wait until it has cooled fully before handling it, and never leave a burning candle unattended.
