Description

This is the Multi Acorn cushion, a 45 x 45cm square in Thyme and Forest greens, printed with a dense pattern of acorns, oak leaves and branching stems. The design is drawn from the original 1879 Morris & Co. hand-printing blocks, and the William Morris archive shows here in the way the leaves layer over one another and the small flowers and clustered acorns fill every gap. It is made from 100% polyester, a hard-wearing woven fabric that has been treated for water resistance so it copes with the damp and the sun of an outdoor setting.

It is built as an outdoor cushion, and the water-resistant fabric is what makes it one. That means it earns its place on a garden bench, a patio chair or a wooden seat under cover, where an indoor cushion would take on moisture and stay damp. It also works perfectly well indoors on a sofa or reading chair, so you are not tied to the garden. The greens are deep enough to sit against natural wood and stone, and the print reads as woodland at a glance and rewards a closer look with its acorns and buds.

Look closely at the photographs and you can see the piping around the edge, which frames the square and helps it hold its shape once filled. There is a zip along one side, so the cover comes off the pad when you need it to. Being polyester, the fabric is quick to shed water rather than soak it up, and it holds its printed colour well in daylight. The Multi Acorn print comes in more than one colourway, shown stacked together in our photography, so you can mix the Thyme and Forest with the lighter greens if you are dressing a whole seating set.
