Description

The Moroni is a flush ceiling light built around a deep dome of ribbed glass that sits close to the ceiling, with a small finial at its base. The ribs run from the rim down to the centre, so the glass catches the light along every line. It is 20cm tall and 30cm across, a generous size for a fitting that keeps its height low. It is made from brass, glass and steel, and we offer it in four finishes: Antique Brass, Antique Silver, Polished Brass or Satin Brass. The bulbs are sold separately: it takes two E27 bulbs, up to 40W per bulb.

Because it sits flush rather than hanging, the Moroni suits a hallway, where it lights the space without taking up headroom by the front door or at the foot of the stairs. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms indoors only and not for a bathroom or anywhere it could be splashed. The finish is where you match it to the house: Antique Brass and Antique Silver have the worn, mellow look of older fittings, Polished Brass is bright and warm, and Satin Brass is softer, with a gentle sheen. Whichever you choose, the clear ribbed glass stays the same.

Each Moroni is made to order for you in Ireland, so the fitting you receive has been made for your order rather than taken from a shelf. It is wired in to the mains, which makes it a job for a qualified electrician to install. The maker guarantees the fittings it makes for five years from the date of purchase, and the bulbs are not covered by that guarantee. With the glass at 30cm across, it is worth measuring your hallway ceiling before you choose, and having your bulbs to hand for the day it goes up.
